ADEC & the Public Private Partnership (PPP)
Based in the partner schools, Nord Anglia staff are using coaching, modelling, team teaching, mentoring and other innovative methods to help local principals and teachers to deliver a radically new curriculum. Teachers are also receiving training in English language, from Elementary to IELTS Band 6.0, and professional development in the adoption of an activity-based approach to learning. The PD programme also addresses all aspects of quality teaching and learning.
An integral part of our reforms has been the development of strong links with parents and the community. There are newly formed Parent Councils and parent helpers at most of our schools, and attendance at parents' meetings is very high, at over 85%. This is exemplified in the extract reproduced below from a letter written by the Principal of a PPP Primary School:
Our key successes are linked to:
- tailoring school improvement programmes that meet the local needs, contexts and build upon where schools currently are;
- strong vision for improvement and the full engagement of principals and teachers in communicating and sharing that vision;
- strong underpinning in the principles of self review, professional development, and school improvement strategies;
- innovative approaches to teaching and learning.
The project is challenging and far reaching. However, it has already experienced considerable success. The NA team have demonstrated commitment, flexibility, creativity and resourcefulness in order to achieve this.
